Mult asteptatul roman al Chimamandei Ngozi Adichie isi plaseaza actiunea in Nigeria anilor 1960, in perioada nefastului razboi dintre Nigeria si Biafra in care mii de oameni au fost masacrati cu sange rece si care a costat tara peste un milion de vieti.
Trei personaje sunt prinse in iuresul evenimentelor politice din acest deceniu tumultos. Primul este Ugwu, un baia sarac de la tara angajat ca servitor in casa unui profesor unviersitar. Al doilea este o tanara din clasa de mijloc, Olanna, care decide sa traiasca impreuna cu profesorul, abandonand privilegiile unei vieti de lux in Lagos pentru oraselul universitar prafuit si pentru idealismul si charisma noului ei iubit. Iar cel de al treilea este Richard, un englez inalt si timid, fascinat de sora geamana a Olannei, figura enigmatica si distanta care refuza sa apartina cuiva.
Din momentul in care Olanna devine martora unor orori inimaginabile la inceputul razboiului, toate aceste personaje sunt aruncare in valtoarea unor evenimente care ii vor desparti si apropia in cele mai neasteptate feluri.
Pe masura ce trupele nigeriene avanseaza si ei fug ca sa scape cu viata, idealurile le sunt puse la grea incercare- si la fel si loialitatea unuia fata de celalalt. Acest roman extraordinar vorbeste despre Africa insasi, despre responsabilitatea morala, sfarsitul colonialismului, apartenenta etnica, despre clase si rase si despre felul in care dragostea poate complica toate aceste lucruri.

Ebook Jumătate de soare galben read Online! Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie is a Nigerian author. Her best known novels are Purple Hibiscus (2003), Half of a Yellow Sun (2006), and Americanah (2013).

She was born in Enugu, Nigeria, the fifth of six children to Igbo parents. She studied medicine and pharmacy at the University of Nigeria for a year and a half. At nineteen, Chimamanda left for the U.S. to study communication at Drexel University in Philadelphia for two years, then went on to pursue a degree in communication and political science at Eastern Connecticut State University. Chimamanda graduated summa cum laude from Eastern in 2001, and then completed a master's degree in creative writing at Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore.

It was during her senior year at Eastern that she started working on her first novel, Purple Hibiscus , which was published in October 2003.

Chimamanda was a Hodder fellow at Princeton University during the 2005-2006 academic year, and earned an MA in African Studies from Yale University in 2008.
